# The Science Behind Oculoris

*Created: August 01, 2026*\
*Updated: August 16, 2026*

**Oculoris** is built on peer-reviewed vision science — not wellness fads. Every exercise traces to clinical research in optometry and vision therapy, and every claim on this site is cited to the study behind it. In total, our training draws on 25+ peer-reviewed studies across 8 vision domains.

***Why this works***

Your visual system is the most plastic sensory system in your body. Targeted, progressive, consistent training produces measurable change — improved oculomotor control, focusing speed, and visual comfort — and even measurable rewiring in visual cortex (Levi & Li, 2009; Widmer et al., 2018). Two minutes a day, done right, is enough to matter.

***The 8 domains we train***

1. Oculomotor Control

• What it trains: Saccades, smooth pursuit, and fixation — the eye-movement foundation for reading and scanning

2. Vergence & Binocular Vision

• What it trains: Eye teaming — convergence and divergence for single, clear vision (CI affects 5–13% of people)

3. Accommodative Function

• What it trains: Your eye's autofocus — shifting near↔far, the muscle behind screen-induced strain

4. Peripheral Awareness

• What it trains: Wide-angle vision for sports, driving, and hazard detection

5. Eye Health & Recovery

• What it trains: Blinking, tear film, and the 20-20-20 rule for screen-fatigued eyes

6. Speed & Reaction

• What it trains: Visual reaction time and dynamic acuity — process what you see, faster

7. Cognitive-Visual Integration

• What it trains: Working memory, attention, and dual-task — vision is a brain process

8. The Neuroscience of Vision Training

• What it trains: Why it works: neuroplasticity, fMRI evidence, and dose-dependence

***How the evidence is organized***

Each domain page lists the named exercises that train it, the clinical studies behind them, and the metric that improves. Where the research is strong — like vergence therapy for convergence insufficiency, backed by Cochrane-level evidence — we say so plainly. Where it's still emerging, we're honest about that too.

***What Oculoris is not***

Oculoris is eye fitness, not medical treatment. We make no claim to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. Think of it as a gym for your eyes — evidence-informed, but never a substitute for a comprehensive exam with your optometrist.<br>
